Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Mono-Green Hydra Tribal strategy commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The deck leverages dense 1- and 2-drop ramp to deploy Gargos ahead of curve on Turn 4. Once on the battlefield, Gargos reduces the cost of all Hydra spells by {4}, enabling explosive turns where massive X-cost Hydras are cast for minimal mana while triggering creature-ETB draw engines like Garruk's Uprising and Elemental Bond. Simultaneously, Gargos turns every targeting spell—including low-cost protection spells and repeatable auras like Whip Silk—into instant-speed fight triggers to dismantle opposing creature boards. The deck closes games around Turn 6 by overwhelming opponents with enormous trample threats, +1/+1 counter doublers like Kalonian Hydra and Branching Evolution, and decisive combat finishers including Overwhelming Stampede and Triumph of the Hordes.
