Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror, focusing on Aristocrats attrition, big mana ramp, and end-step recursion loops. The early game accelerates mana using efficient rocks, rituals, and land doublers like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast while establishing sacrifice outlets and card-draw permanents. In the midgame, the deck establishes board dominance with asymmetric edict effects from Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, continuously sacrificing utility creatures like Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder. Once Avacyn, Angel of Horror resolves, any sacrificed nontoken creature returns at the next end step, allowing players to repeat devastating enters-the-battlefield and death triggers every turn. The deck finishes games by repeatedly draining opponents with Kokusho, the Evening Star and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, mass-reanimating with Living Death, or attacking with an 8/8 flying deathtouch commander.
