Deck overview

This mono-red competitive list focuses on casting its commander, Slicer, Hired Muscle, on Turn 1 or 2 using dense 0–1 CMC fast mana and rituals via More Than Meets the Eye ({2}{R}). Once deployed, Slicer attacks immediately and is passed to each opponent under goad during their upkeeps. Dealing 6 double strike commander damage on each player's turn, Slicer generates 24 baseline commander damage per table cycle, clocking the entire table down by Turn 4. The deck protects this aggressive plan by deploying asymmetric stax pieces like Blood Moon, Defense Grid, and Vexing Bauble, alongside efficient redirection and counterspells such as Deflecting Swat and Pyroblast. Equipment such as Commander's Plate and Tenza, Godo's Maul double Slicer's lethal output while granting crucial protection and evasion, creating a blisteringly fast combat clock that forces opponents to interact immediately or perish.
