Deck overview

This Bant deck centers on Arcades, the Strategist, turning cheap, high-toughness defender creatures into efficient combat threats and recurring draw engines. By utilizing toughness for combat damage, low-cost walls such as Wall of Denial and Overgrown Battlement generate immense combat stats while replacing themselves in hand. The mana base operates around 37 lands and specialized defender dorks like Axebane Guardian. The deck maintains resilience through redundant toughness combat enablers like High Alert and Assault Formation, which ensure board relevance even if Arcades is removed. Interaction is customized to exploit the low printed power of defenders: asymmetric board wipes such as Slaughter the Strong and The Battle of Bywater decimate opposing boards while leaving the wall legion completely intact. The primary win condition culminates in wide alpha strikes amplified by evasion pieces like Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive or explosive team buffs such as Akroma's Will and Tower Defense.
