Deck overview

This deck is a focused mono-black midrange and aristocrats strategy led by Massacre Girl, Known Killer. It leverages the commander's wither aura to turn creature combat and -1/-1 counter effects into reliable card advantage whenever an opposing creature dies with toughness less than 1. The deck deploys mana rocks on Turn 2, establishes the commander on Turn 4, and uses efficient removal like Tragic Slip and Go for the Throat to control opposing boards while generating a continuous stream of cards. Rather than racing with fast mana or compact two-card combos, it wins through cumulative drain: pairing sweepers such as Black Sun's Zenith and Massacre Girl with drain engines like Blood Artist, Bastion of Remembrance, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. Finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Exsanguinate close out games across Turns 8 to 9 once opponent life totals are softened.
