Deck overview

This Golgari deck operates as an exhibition artist theme deck constructed exclusively with cards illustrated by Kev Walker. It pursues a traditional midrange attrition strategy, deploying small creatures early to discount its commander, Witherbloom, the Balancer, through creature affinity. Once deployed, the commander provides aerial combat pressure while granting affinity to the deck's removal and disruption spells. Stax and attrition pieces such as Bottomless Pit, Mindslicer, and Grave Pact wear down opposing resources and clear blockers. Without fast mana or infinite combos, the deck relies on fair combat damage, creature buffs from Rancor or Soul's Might, and incremental drain from Rotwidow Pack to slowly eliminate opponents. The aesthetic constraint limits mechanical synergy, resulting in a relaxed, battlecruiser-style pace.
