Deck overview

This Izzet deck is an explosive wheels and token-swarm strategy commanded by The Locust God, featuring Lutri, the Spellchaser as a companion. The primary game plan accelerates through dense two-mana rocks and cost reducers to cast The Locust God on Turn 5. Once active, every card drawn produces a 1/1 flying Insect token with haste. The deck leverages high-velocity draw engines like Skullclamp, Compulsive Research, and Variable Chaser // Arc of Fortune to flood the board with aerial attackers. A dedicated two-card loop with Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards draws the entire library to generate infinite hasty insects or win immediately with Laboratory Maniac. Built-in death recursion returns the commander to hand rather than the command zone, effectively dodging commander tax, while countermagic and Deflecting Swat protect critical spells. Independent threats like Talrand, Sky Summoner and Lyra, Tolarian Archangel provide reliable backup pressure if the commander is removed.
