What Hand? | Self-Discard Engine

Format: Commander

Commander: Damia, Sage of Stone

Bracket: 3

DeckCheck Threat Index: 19

Deck overview

This deck uses Damia, Sage of Stone as a delayed hand-refill engine. Ramp from Sol Ring, mana creatures, land-search spells, and The Gitrog Monster helps reach the seven-mana commander. Discard outlets such as Zombie Infestation, Likeness Looter, and Frantic Search reduce the hand below seven so Damia can refill it on the next upkeep. Psychosis Crawler turns those draws into life loss for all three opponents, while Teferi's Ageless Insight and Windfall can create larger bursts. The plan is value-oriented rather than competitive combo: it needs several expensive permanents, has limited tutoring, and exposes its engine to creature removal and graveyard disruption. Muldrotha, the Gravetide, Oskar, Rubbish Reclaimer, and Eternal Witness provide recovery and alternate value, while Propaganda, No Mercy, and a broad removal package slow opposing attacks. Without an early assembled damage package, the deck usually wins through repeated draw cycles or combat rather than a compact finish.
