Deck overview

This Simic deck executes a proactive tribal beatdown strategy powered by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The primary plan develops low-cost Merfolk on turns 1 through 3, establishes Hakbal on turn 4, and triggers mass exploration at the start of combat. Exploration rapidly filters the library, loads lands into hand, and stacks +1/+1 counters across the battlefield. On turn 5, the deck transitions into critical onset by attacking with heavily buffed creatures backed by evasion pieces like Herald of Secret Streams, Master of the Pearl Trident, or Wonder. A lethal combat sweep typically eliminates the table on turn 6 after just one opponent response cycle. Dense countermagic and specialized protection spells shield the board against sweepers and spot removal. If Hakbal is removed, secondary engines like Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Emperor Mihail II maintain steady card flow and board development with minimal delay.
