Deck overview

Codie, Ravenous Codex leads an innovative spellslinger deck built under the companion restriction of Umori, the Collector, requiring every nonland card in the 99 to be a creature. The deck satisfies this condition by utilizing creature cards with Prepare spells and Adventure mechanics, allowing creature cards to trigger noncreature spellslinger synergies. Once Codie is deployed on Turn 3, casting any prepared spell causes Codie to copy it, doubling mana generation, removal, card draw, and token creation. High-impact spells like Blazing Firesinger's Seething Song and Emeritus of Ideation's Ancestral Recall rapidly generate mana and cards, while payoffs such as Monastery Mentor, Third Path Iconoclast, and Flaming Tyrannosaurus convert spell casts into large prowess armies and heavy direct damage. Supported by blink-based protection and Umori providing steady cost reduction as an alternate engine, the deck consistently establishes a must-answer board state on Turn 5 and closes the game on Turn 6 via wide combat.
