Deck overview

This deck is a high-tempo Mono-Red Spellslinger and Burn strategy led by Gandalf, Goblins' Bane. The deck capitalizes on Gandalf's ability to ping every opponent whenever you cast a noncreature spell, turning low-cost cantrips, rituals, and rummaging effects into relentless table-wide damage. The adventure half, Flameshape, allows you to exile cards early to smooth land drops and secure engine pieces before casting your commander. Once Gandalf and supporting velocity engines like Storm-Kiln Artist, Runaway Steam-Kin, or Artist's Talent are established, the deck rapidly chains spells using burst mana from Jeska's Will and Seething Song. It closes games decisively either by storming off with Underworld Breach and redundant pingers like Guttersnipe and Fiery Inscription, or by executing the compact infinite combo of Dualcaster Mage and Twinflame to create an arbitrarily large army of hasty attackers. Deflecting Swat and Blood Moon provide vital shielding and asymmetric disruption.
