Hellion Blitz by Gwim

Format: Commander

Commander: Morophon, the Boundless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a specialized tribal strategy focused on the often-overlooked Hellion creature type, helmed by Morophon, the Boundless. The primary game plan is to utilize Morophon s cost-reduction ability to deploy high-CMC, aggressive Hellions for significantly reduced costs (often for free or just generic mana). The deck leverages the high power and "enters-the-battlefield" (ETB) damage triggers characteristic of Hellions, amplified by damage multipliers like Fiery Emancipation, Obosh, the Preypiercer, and Embermaw Hellion. Victory is typically achieved through overwhelming combat damage or explosive non-combat damage via Warstorm Surge, Where Ancients Tread, and Chandra's Ignition. While the deck is primarily Jund-colored, Morophon allows for the inclusion of powerful off-color support like Temur Ascendancy. The strategy plays as a "stompy" midrange-combo hybrid, looking to untap with its commander to create a sudden, lethal board state.
