Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Giant kindred strategy commanded by Aegar, the Freezing Flame. The deck's primary engine uses damage spells and Giant combat to trigger Aegar's excess-damage ability, converting tactical creature removal into persistent card advantage. Early turns focus on establishing mana rocks and cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Stinkdrinker Daredevil to support the high mana costs typical of the Giant creature type. In the midgame, asymmetric sweepers such as Battle of Frost and Fire and Thundercloud Shaman clear opposing battlefields while preserving your own board. The endgame leverages overwhelming damage multipliers, including Calamity Bearer and Fiery Emancipation, or redirected noncombat burn via Toralf, God of Fury, to eliminate all three opponents in decisive combat waves or board-wide burn spells.
