Deck overview

This Orzhov deck helmed by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel operates as a lifegain-centric combo-control strategy. It leverages efficient early ramp and soul-sister style lifegain triggers to stabilize against aggressive decks and draw massive amounts of cards through Niv-Mizzet's ability. The deck's primary route to victory is assembling an infinite life-drain loop by combining a damage-to-life converter such as Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror with a life-to-damage converter like Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or Marauding Blight-Priest. Supported by heavy creature and permanent removal, tax effects like Blind Obedience and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and burst finishers like Aetherflux Reservoir or Bolas's Citadel, the deck systematically controls the board until it can execute a same-turn lethal combo.
