test bait hakbal by IvanD.927

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul commands a Simic landfall value deck rather than a Merfolk tribal build. The primary plan is to play extra lands every turn through Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Aesi, and Icetill Explorer, triggering landfall payoffs such as Scute Swarm, Rampaging Baloths, Zendikar's Roil, and Hakbal's explore. These effects build a wide board while Tatyova, Aesi, and Elemental Bond turn land drops into cards, smoothing toward an alpha kill with Craterhoof Behemoth, Return of the Wildspeaker, or Akroma's Memorial. Aesi and Tatyova are the true hidden lieutenants, but no hidden commander replaces Hakbal; his attack trigger remains the strongest one-card extra-land engine.
