Format: Commander

Commander: The Ur-Dragon

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

The Ur-Dragon is a five-color Dragon-tribal battlecruiser. The eminence discount makes every other Dragon cheaper, while the attack trigger draws cards and cheats permanents into play. The primary plan is to ramp to seven-plus mana, cast a critical mass of large flying Dragons, and win through combat, often in one turn using Atarka, World Render with Thrakkus the Butcher and an extra combat from Scourge of the Throne or All-Out Assault. Secondary paths include Tiamat tutoring finishers, Dracogenesis or Fist of Suns plus Morophon for free Dragon casts, and Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm doubling every nontoken Dragon. The commander is the main engine but not strictly required; the deck still has its eminence cost reduction and other cheat effects if the Ur-Dragon is neutralized.
