Format: Commander

Commander: Karlov of the Ghost Council

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Karlov of the Ghost Council leads an Orzhov life-gain tempo deck. The primary plan is to stack cheap 'whenever another creature enters, you gain 1 life' permanents, grow Karlov into a one-shot commander-damage threat, and exile blockers with his activated ability. The secondary plan is an incremental drain shell using Vito, Cliffhaven Vampire, Marauding Blight-Priest, and friends, which can become an infinite loop with Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror once any life-gain trigger occurs. There is no hidden commander; Tymna the Weaver is a valuable card-draw piece but doesn't replace Karlov's role. Karlov is the engine and finisher, but the deck can still function without him through combo and passive draining.
