Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Spellslinger Control strategy commanded by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. It controls the game through dense interaction and pillowfort defenses while turning noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater into life drain and card advantage. The deck reaches maximum efficiency by attaching damage-triggered draw effects like Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, and Helm of the Ghastlord to Y'shtola. Because Y'shtola deals 2 damage to each opponent whenever a qualifying noncreature spell is cast, each cast yields three cards, fueling a continuous stream of counterspells and removal. Defensive enchantments such as Ghostly Prison and Propaganda protect life totals against creature swarms. To close the game, the deck uses cumulative commander drain, a large Exsanguinate, or a two-card infinite draw-damage loop between Psychosis Crawler and Curiosity.
