Deck overview

Led by The Ancient One, this Dimir deck operates as an aggressive self-mill and reanimator engine. The commander acts as both an undercosted two-mana 8/8 beater once Descend 8 is satisfied and a repeatable looting engine that mills opponents based on discarded mana values. The core strategy rapidly fills the graveyard using high-efficiency dredgers like Stinkweed Imp, continuous mill pieces like Mesmeric Orb, and surgical tutors like Buried Alive. Once stocked, cheap reanimation spells such as Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Necromancy deploy game-warping threats as early as Turn 3 or 4. Syr Konrad, the Grim serves as a primary win condition by turning every milled creature into table-wide direct damage, while Doom Whisperer and Archfiend of Ifnir apply overwhelming combat pressure and one-sided creature wipes. Supported by low-curve interaction and rapid recovery, the deck applies relentless graveyard pressure.
