Champions of Baldur's Gate by Psyga315

Format: Commander

Commander: Candlekeep Sage and Karlach, Fury of Avernus

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Izzet combat-commander deck pairs Karlach, Fury of Avernus with the Candlekeep Sage Background, turning Karlach's enters/leaves occurrences into card draw and her attack trigger into an extra combat phase. The primary plan is to cast Karlach, protect her with Dolmen Gate, and attack with multiple combat steps, using spells-matter payoffs (Niv-Mizzet, Parun; The Locust God; Balmor) to convert instants and sorceries into damage and tokens. A secondary path is the three-dragon Niv-Mizzet loop: Parun, Visionary, and the Firemind together produce infinite draws and damage. The deck also runs City on Fire as a triple-damage finisher. Hidden commander is the Background itself, which supercharges Karlach's value.
