Deck overview

This deck is a mono-green Hydra Tribal Stompy list commanded by Gargos, Vicious Watcher. The primary game plan focuses on rapid early mana acceleration through 1-2 mana ramp spells, followed by deploying Gargos on Turn 4 to reduce the cost of all Hydra spells by {4}. This discount enables explosive Turn 5 boards where massive X-cost Hydras are cast for minimal mana, immediately triggering power-based draw engines like The Great Henge and Garruk's Uprising. Gargos doubles as a formidable board-control engine, fighting opposing creatures whenever any spell targets your creatures—a synergy maximized by cheap targeted spells and self-bouncing auras like Whip Silk. The deck converts this overwhelming board presence into a win across Turns 5 to 7 using trample enablers, counter doublers like Kalonian Hydra, Unnatural Growth, or a decisive Triumph of the Hordes.
