Deck overview

This deck is a Boros Midrange Reanimator build led by Excava, the Risen Past. The strategy centers on discarding and milling low-cost, high-utility permanents into the graveyard during the early turns. When Excava enters on Turn 4, its native haste allows it to attack immediately and reanimate a key permanent as an evasive 1/1 Spirit. The deck compounds this advantage through cards that trigger whenever cards leave the graveyard, such as Quintorius, Field Historian and Spirit of Resilience, rapidly building a wide flying army. The win condition culminates in an overwhelming air assault powered by overrun effects like Moonshaker Cavalry or sustained burn and buffs from Balefire Liege. While the deck features robust secondary reanimation engines and solid creature-based protection, its reliance on combat damage and graveyard access leaves it open to targeted graveyard hate and well-timed sweepers.
