Deck overview

This Sultai deck harnesses the power of Zaxara, the Exemplary to turn every mana sink and utility spell into a board-dominating threat. Early turns focus on accelerating mana using rocks, land ramp, and specialized mana dorks like Nexos and Troyan, Gutsy Explorer. Once Zaxara enters the battlefield, every subsequent X-spell generates a free, scaling Hydra token. The deck amplifies these tokens with counter multipliers such as Branching Evolution, Unbound Flourishing, and Innkeeper's Talent, while drawing cards through Garruk's Uprising and Hydroid Krasis. Victory is achieved by granting trampling or unblockable evasion through Open into Wonder and Nev, the Practical Dean, or by draining the entire table with a massive Stensian Sanguinist // Exsanguinate. Strong instant-speed protection and scalable counterspells ensure the deck can defend its threats and close out the game reliably by turn 8.
