Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes Licia, Sanguine Tribune as a high-powered lifegain and combat engine. The primary game plan focuses on deploying early lifegain enablers like Pristine Talisman, Suture Priest, and lifelink Vampires to reduce Licia's casting cost to three mana by Turn 5. Once cast, Licia pays life to grow into an imposing 7/7 or 10/10 first strike lifelinker that gains back the spent life during combat while putting opponents on a rapid commander damage clock. The deck supplements combat damage with incremental drain effects such as Sanctum Seeker, Campaign of Vengeance, and The Meathook Massacre, while holding alternate win conditions like Felidar Sovereign, Aetherflux Reservoir, and Bolas's Citadel. While the deck generates massive life totals, it relies on fair combat over multiple turns and has limited protection against heavy spot removal or sweepers.
