Deck overview

This mono-black deck is commanded by Gwenom, Remorseless, aiming to leverage life as a resource to assemble and execute game-ending life drain combos. The primary game plan revolves around casting Gwenom on curve and attacking to utilize her ability, which allows spells from the top of the library to be cast for life rather than mana. This velocity accelerates the assembly of the deck's primary two-card infinite combo: Exquisite Blood paired with Sanguine Bond, Bloodthirsty Conqueror, or Epicure of Blood. Supported by premier black tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Grim Tutor) and potent card advantage engines like Ad Nauseam and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, the deck consistently threatens a Turn 5 same-turn kill. While the deck possesses strong creature removal and graveyard hate via Leyline of the Void, its relatively low land count and vulnerability to exile-based interaction and countermagic represent its primary points of friction.
