Goreclaw, Apex of Qal Sisma by djmffnman

Format: Commander

Commander: Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma leads a mono-green "big mana, bigger beaters" strategy. The deck ramps hard with one-mana dorks, Nature's Lore-style land search, and Sol Ring, then uses Goreclaw's two-mana discount on power-4+ creature spells to deploy a steady stream of 6/6 to 12/12 tramplers. Card advantage comes from high-power ETB engines like Vaultborn Tyrant, Garruk's Uprising, Soul of the Harvest, and The Great Henge rather than from the command zone. The primary finishes are the infect overrun of Triumph of the Hordes and an X 10 Finale of Devastation haste-overrun, with Eldrazi annihilators as a secondary inevitability plan. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins by assembling an overwhelming trampling board state. Nylea, Keen-Eyed, Radagast of Rhosgobel, and Surrak and Goreclaw provide enough redundancy that the deck does not entirely collapse if Goreclaw is answered.
