Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs lifegain triggers with typal +1/+1 counter placement and traditional aristocrat burn. Commanded by Blech, Loafing Pest, the deck turns every instance of lifegain into counters across Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. Early turns focus on ramping and deploying low-cost lifegain engines like Essence Warden and Prosperous Innkeeper. Once Blech enters the battlefield on turn 3, token generators such as Ophiomancer, Blight Mound, and Beledros Witherbloom create steady streams of typal fodder that grow rapidly. The deck converts this board presence into a decisive finish through two simultaneous avenues: attacking with large, evasive creatures granted trample or deathtouch, and draining the table using aristocrat staples like Mirkwood Bats, Bastion of Remembrance, and Blood Artist. High-velocity draw spells like Skullclamp and Plumb the Forbidden ensure continuous card advantage, while efficient spot removal keeps threatening opposing commanders in check.
