Smaug by user4226506

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rakdos dragon-tribal treasure engine helmed by Smaug the Impenetrable. The plan is to develop a dragon board with cost-reducers and rocks, cast the 8/7 indestructible, hasty commander, and convert noncombat damage - via your own Blasphemous Act, Lightning Bolt, Volt Charge, or a Pariah's Shield redirect - into massive Treasure bursts that chain out more dragons. Smaug closes through three flying commander-damage hits; Desert Were-Worm compresses that clock into a same-turn double-combat kill; Wrathful Red Dragon and Mayhem Devil turn the self-damage into table reach; Chandra's Ignition with Crucible of Fire chunks the whole pod; and Hellkite Tyrant floats an incidental artifact-count win. The commander is a payoff rather than an engine - the 99 is a dense, interchangeable pile of dragon bodies and Treasure producers.
