Deck overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul commands a tempo-oriented kindred deck that rapidly accumulates board presence and card advantage through the explore mechanic. The strategy revolves around casting early Merfolk to establish a wide board, casting Hakbal to trigger mass exploration at combat, and churning through the library while ramping lands and distributing plus-one counters. Once the team is enlarged, the deck closes the game via unblockable attacks using Herald of Secret Streams, Lord of Atlantis, or Master of the Pearl Trident, or alternatively by triggering an alternate win condition through a counter-loaded Simic Ascendancy.
