Deck overview

This deck is a Boros Graveyard Aggro-Reanimator strategy commanded by Excava, the Risen Past. The primary game plan fills the graveyard early using cheap rummaging and looting spells like Faithless Looting, Bitter Reunion, and Cathartic Reunion. On Turn 4, Excava enters the battlefield with haste and immediately attacks, reanimating key utility permanents with mana value 3 or less as 1/1 flying Spirits. The deck compounds this board presence by chaining reanimation triggers with token engines like Quintorius, History Chaser and Hofri Ghostforge, alongside damage engines like Gau, Feral Youth and Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury. While finality counters normally exile reanimated creatures on death, cards like Nesting Grounds can move those counters onto opponent permanents to allow infinite loops of utility creatures like Kami of False Hope and Selfless Spirit. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through wide flying combat damage and direct burn.
