Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos Group Slug strategy commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying cheap, continuous damage sources such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Kederekt Parasite on early turns, followed by casting Valgavoth on Turn 3 or 4. Because Valgavoth triggers whenever an opponent loses life for the first time on their turn, the deck turns routine table actions into steady card advantage and rapid commander growth, drawing up to three extra cards per turn cycle. Mid-game turns stack punishing enchantments like Spellshock, Painful Quandary, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse that drain opposing life totals whenever players cast spells, draw cards, or tap permanents. Supported by anti-lifegain effects and efficient removal, the deck converts this accumulated attrition into quick eliminations using large flying attacks amplified by Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar or a high-impact Exsanguinate.
