Deck overview

This Meren of Clan Nel Toth deck is a resilient Golgari midrange graveyard engine focused on creature sacrifice, recurring value, and asymmetric board control. The deck ramps on turns one and two using efficient accelerators like Sol Ring, Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Dark Ritual to establish Meren on turn three or four. Once assembled, Meren steadily accumulates experience counters while returning essential utility creatures every end step. The deck transitions into a lethal clock around turn six by deploying crushing attrition pieces such as Grave Pact, Smokestack, and Sheoldred, Whispering One alongside massive threats like Ygra, Eater of All and Bolas's Citadel. Opponents find their boards continuously depleted while this deck generates insurmountable card and mana advantages, closing out the game by turn eight through aristocrat life drain and combat damage. While vulnerable to instant-speed graveyard exile and lacking countermagic, its redundant recursion pathways provide immense resilience against conventional removal.
