Deck overview

Gonti, Night Minister commands a mono-black combat-theft archetype that leverages an extensive package of cheap shadow and unblockable creatures to consistently trigger combat damage abilities. Once Gonti is deployed, every unblocked attacker exiles the top card of the damaged opponent's library, expanding your available hand into opponents' decks while generating Treasure tokens whenever stolen cards are cast. The deck supplements this core engine with secondary theft and combat payoffs like Grim Hireling, Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor, and Arvinox, the Mind Flail. Mana production is bolstered by high-end rocks and treasure generation, enabling the casting of stolen spells regardless of their color requirements. While the deck possesses formidable card velocity and near-unblockable attackers, its reliance on incremental combat damage and vulnerability to board wipes make it play at a methodical pace, ultimately grinding out opponents through cumulative card advantage, opponent win conditions, and life drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
