Commander: Y'shtola, Night's Blessed

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Esper control-drain deck is helmed by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed, leveraging her end-step draw trigger and noncreature spell damage to grind out incremental advantage. The primary game plan is to cast noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater, triggering Y'shtola's 2-damage-per-opponent and lifegain, while also fueling other payoffs like Papalymo Totolymo, G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn, and Estinien Varlineau. The deck wins through cumulative life loss from the commander, Exsanguinate, Underworld Coinsmith activations, and combat damage from buffed creatures. A robust pillowfort package (Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Norn's Annex) and selective removal keep the board manageable, while recursion via Emet-Selch of the Third Seat and Krile Baldesion provides resilience. The deck is a classic value engine that aims to outlast opponents through card advantage and repeated drain effects.
