Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Mardu combat-focused Kaalia deck that leverages the commander's attack trigger to cheat high-casting-cost Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield. The primary plan is to ramp to Kaalia of the Vast, suit up the board with equipment like Moonsilver Spear and Embercleave, and apply relentless flying pressure. The deck lacks infinite combos or a robust control shell, aiming instead to win through repeated combat steps, token generation from Elspeth, Storm Slayer, and value plays from sagas and recursion. The commander is the deck's engine: without Kaalia the entire fast-drop cheat plan collapses, so protecting her and generating enough early mana to cast her are consistent demands.
