Deck overview

This deck is a competitive Sultai stax-combo powerhouse that blends oppressive draw-denial locks with compact, format-ceiling win conditions. Centered around Leovold, Emissary of Trest, the deck restricts opponents to drawing a single card each turn. Combining Leovold or Narset, Parter of Veils with wheels such as Windfall, Dark Deal, Timetwister, or Teferi's Puzzle Box completely empties opposing hands, establishing an insurmountable resource asymmetry as early as Turn 3. When ready to close the game, the deck pivots into deterministic infinite combos: Witherbloom Apprentice paired with Chain of Smog drains the entire table in a single turn, while Buried Alive sets up a lethal Necrotic Ooze engine using Phyrexian Devourer and Triskelion. Supported by premier fast mana, universal low-cost tutors, and a robust free countermagic suite, the deck consistently protects its proactive game plan while disrupting opposing win attempts.
