Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari lifegain and life-manipulation midrange deck commanded by Willowdusk, Essence Seer. The strategy revolves around weaponizing large life fluctuations—both gains and losses—into permanent board advantage. In the early turns, the deck deploys land ramp, mana rocks, and efficient utility pieces like Black Market Connections and Dina, Soul Steeper. Once Willowdusk is on the battlefield, cards like Greed, Vampire Nighthawk, and Pulse of Murasa generate dramatic life swings that Willowdusk converts into massive batches of +1/+1 counters on evasive flyers or trampling threats. Alternate win conditions include wide token swarms from Tivash, Gloom Summoner, team-wide overrun buffs via Blossoming Bogbeast, table-wide drain from Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Sanguine Bond, and direct creature flings using Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. While the deck has resilient standalone threats, its reliance on combat damage, lack of tutors, and vulnerability to creature removal keep it firmly in the focused midrange tier.
