Deck overview

This mono-black control deck pairs a political group-hug shell with lethal life-manipulation win conditions. Its commander, Phage the Untouchable, is purely decorative because the deck includes no cards like Torpor Orb or Command Beacon to bypass her self-eliminating trigger. Instead, the deck accelerates mana using Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and rocks like Worn Powerstone, while feeding the table extra cards through Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, and Temple Bell. This group-hug strategy lowers opponents' threat perception while fueling your hand. The defensive core consists of ten board sweepers, including Damnation and Toxic Deluge, alongside spot removal like Snuff Out. To close games, the deck pivots to single-target life-setting cards like Sorin Markov, Tree of Perdition, Magus of the Mirror, and Choice of Damnations, supported by turn-stealing effects like Mindslaver and Worst Fears. While resilient and disruptive, its sequential kill plan requires several turn cycles to eliminate the entire table.
