My Life for Yours

Format: Commander

Commander: Heliod, Sun-Crowned

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Rosa triggers a +1/+1 counter and lifelink each combat, but the real engine is Heliod, Sun-Crowned, the deck's hidden commander. The plan is to gain life through combat and replacement effects, then finish with one of several life-based wins. The primary kill is the two-card Heliod + Walking Ballista loop: Heliod grants Ballista lifelink, each ping gains life, and Heliod replaces the lost counter, allowing infinite damage to all opponents. Aetherflux Reservoir and Test of Endurance are backup win conditions. The commander accelerates the counter/combat plan but is not needed for the combo, so the deck functions at full strength even if Rosa never resolves.
