Deck overview

Karlov of the Ghost Council helms a classic Orzhov lifegain/drain deck. The commander grows on every life-gain trigger and doubles as a repeatable exile-removal valve, while the rest of the deck turns life gain into opponent life loss through Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, and a host of one-life drain creatures. The primary game plan is to assemble the infinite drain loop between an "opponent loses life you gain life" piece like Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror and any "you gain life opponent loses life" piece, with Drana's Emissary, Soul Warden, or Obzedat, Ghost Council providing the first trigger. Backup routes include Felidar Sovereign, Test of Endurance, and massive Exsanguinate/Death Grasp swings. The deck is midrange, durable against combat, but lean on card draw and light on stack interaction.
