Deck overview

This Golgari deck utilizes Blech, Loafing Pest to combine kindred typal synergies, lifegain triggers, and aristocrat drain engines. The primary game plan revolves around generating swarms of small creature tokens—specifically Pests, Insects, Bats, Snakes, and Spiders—and triggering incremental lifegain to distribute +1/+1 counters across the entire board. Early turns focus on mana ramp and establishing repeatable lifegain sources like Essence Warden or Bogwater Lumaret. Once the commander enters on Turn 3, cards such as Scute Swarm, Blight Mound, and Eccentric Pestfinder quickly create an army that expands with each lifegain event. The deck pressures opponents through large evasive attacks granted trample and menace while simultaneously draining life totals with Dina, Soul Steeper, Bastion of Remembrance, and Mirkwood Bats whenever tokens die. It features resilient card draw through Skullclamp and Moldervine Reclamation alongside flexible removal.
