Deck overview

This deck uses Rakdos, Lord of Riots to convert early life loss into massive mana discounts for game-ending creatures. The plan starts by deploying low-cost pingers such as Spear Spewer, Creeping Bloodsucker, or Lobber Crew on Turns 1 to 3. This ensures you can cast Rakdos on Turn 4 despite his casting restriction. On Turn 5, attacking with Rakdos reduces creature casting costs by 6 or more colorless mana. This allows you to flood the board with devastating Eldrazi and Demons like Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, Void Winnower, and Archfiend of Despair for near-zero mana. The deck can also execute an infinite damage combo using Rakdos, Ancestral Statue, and Terror of the Peaks or Nettle Drone. Supported by resilient interaction like Deflecting Swat and flexible sweepers like Toxic Deluge, the deck presents lethal pressure and crippling stax effects from Turn 5 onward.
