Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls leads a Rakdos pain-and-draw deck that punishes opponents for every life loss, card draw, attack, and spell. The primary plan is to deploy symmetrical pain enchantments and goad effects, then use Valgavoth's triggered draw to bury opponents in cards while growing a 4/4 flying commander into a lethal threat. Secondary paths include monarch attrition, group-hug draw punishers, and a goad-treasure engine. The deck has no infinite combos; it wins through incremental damage, commander damage, or a late-game Torment of Hailfire or Insurrection. The commander is the main draw engine, but the deck can still function through pain permanents if Valgavoth is removed.
