Deck overview

Karlov of the Ghost Council leads a classic Orzhov lifegain deck: every life-gain trigger can put counters on Karlov, turning incidental lifegain into a huge commander that exiles blockers and pressures opponents. The primary plan is a midrange grind of cheap lifegain creatures, removal, and board wipes, with Karlov as the removal engine and eventual commander-damage clock. Secondary paths are the 'you win the game' alt-conditions Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance, and the Exquisite Blood-plus-drain loop. The deck is not commander-dependent for its combos, and there is no hidden commander. It wins by outlasting opponents or assembling a drain loop.
