Deck overview

This mono-black deck harnesses mana acceleration, potent reanimation lines, and attrition engines to dominate the battlefield under Valgavoth, Terror Eater. In the early turns, it deploys low-cost mana rocks and enchantments like Black Market Connections to build mana velocity and card advantage. By mid-game, mana multipliers such as Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast allow the deck to hardcast its 9-mana commander or cheat huge threats like Archon of Cruelty and Vilis, Broker of Blood into play. Valgavoth's replacement exile effect denies opposing graveyard strategies and converts dead opposing permanents into free castable spells paid with life. The deck controls the board with efficient removal spells such as Toxic Deluge, Deadly Rollick, and Sheoldred's Edict, while closing out games through evasive combat damage, stolen threats, and devotion-based life loss from Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
