Deck overview

Helmed by Sarulf, Realm Eater, this is a Golgari attrition-control deck that turns the command zone into a recurring one-sided Wrath. The plan is to feed Sarulf +1/+1 counters by forcing opponents to lose permanents, then remove those counters on upkeep to exile every other nonland permanent with mana value equal to or less than the number removed. The deck leans heavily on edict effects, cheap sacrifice outlets, and the mutate package to generate those counters, while a dense land-ramp core pushes toward a giant Torment of Hailfire finish. Secondary wins come from Ghalta, Primal Hunger and Sheoldred, Whispering One beatdown, or from a pumped, evasive Sarulf dealing commander damage. This is a slow, grindy deck that plans to answer the board first and end the game with one massive mana-sink spell.
