Deck overview

This Esper Commander deck uses Varina, Lich Queen to lead an aggressive, highly synergistic Zombie tribal and aristocrats strategy. In the early game, the deck deploys low-cost Zombie creatures to establish a board presence before casting Varina on Turn 4. Attacking with Zombies triggers Varina's ability to draw cards, discard cards, and gain life, rapidly sculpting the hand and filling the graveyard. The deck translates this card flow into overwhelming pressure by casting tribal lords like Death Baron, generating tokens with Diregraf Colossus and Endless Ranks of the Dead, or executing massive graveyard resurrections with Living Death and Zombie Apocalypse. Evasion enablers like Zombie Master combined with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth allow attacks to bypass blockers entirely. Supported by versatile Esper removal and aristocrat life-drain triggers, the deck controls opposing boards while closing out the game through relentless combat steps.
