Deck overview

This deck is a Bant midrange control list led by Arcades, the Strategist. Despite featuring a commander renowned for defender synergies, the ninety-nine contains almost no creatures with defender. Instead, the deck operates as an Angel and keyword-soup midrange build. It aims to stall opposing aggression using pillowfort enchantments like Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, and Rule of Law, while resetting creature swarms with heavy board wipes such as Cleansing Nova and Dusk // Dawn. In the late game, the deck leverages massive evasive threats like Zetalpa, Primal Dawn, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, and Sephara, Sky's Blade, linking their abilities through Odric, Lunarch Marshal or breaking board stalls with Subjugator Angel and Bond of Discipline. While individual bomb cards and defensive pieces provide high ceiling plays, thin ramp and a low land count slow mana progression, leaving the deck reliant on top-deck draws and mid-to-late game combat to finish opponents across multiple turns.
