Deck overview

This Golgari deck is led by Blech, Loafing Pest, focusing on turning incremental lifegain into wide permanent buffs across specific creature types: Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. The primary strategy involves curving out with cheap typal creatures and lifegain enablers, casting Blech on Turn 3, and triggering steady lifegain to grow attackers into formidable threats by Turn 6. With no infinite combos or burst overruns, the deck closes games through sustained combat steps and group life drain from cards like Mirkwood Bats and Starscape Cleric. The deck includes a deep suite of permanent removal to handle opposing threats, but it runs limited ramp and very few protection spells. It relies heavily on maintaining a visible creature board across several turns to reach a Turn 9 finish.
