Commander: Akul the Unrepentant

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos sacrifice-and-reanimator deck helmed by Akul the Unrepentant, built around a single engine: generate a wide board of tokens, then sacrifice three of them to Akul's activated ability to cheat high-impact creatures from hand directly onto the battlefield. The token package is deep - Dragon Fodder, Hordeling Outburst, Krenko's Command, Beetleback Chief, Siege-Gang Commander, Sengir Autocrat, and death-trigger producers like Anax, Hardened in the Forge and Totentanz, Swarm Piper - while the payoff creatures are format-sized threats like Grave Titan, Etali, Primal Storm, Bladewing, Deathless Tyrant, and Abhorrent Overlord. A secondary reanimation suite (Reanimate, Animate Dead, Dread Return, Victimize) provides redundancy, and sacrifice payoffs like Mayhem Devil, Bastion of Remembrance, and Mahadi, Emporium Master convert every death into damage, life, and treasures. The deck wins through overwhelming combat presence and incremental drain rather than any single combo line.
